Unity Table
Our modern teaching kitchen offers a comfortable space to enjoy fellowship with our community members and is an important part of our fundraising efforts.
The mission of Unity Table at Williams Hall is to share the joy of food. Our modern teaching kitchen offers a comfortable space to enjoy fellowship with our community members and is an important part of our fundraising efforts. We also teach young teens basic cooking skills and guide older adults to explore new cuisines and healthy eating habits.
Our semester-long workshops help members of all ages navigate the wide and diverse world of food through chef demonstrations, speakers and hands-on cooking experiences. Participants learn the basics of food and knife safety, menu and grocery list planning and how to source and read quality recipes. At our Unity Table dinners, members of the community from all walks of life are able to gather together to forge bonds across the table. During the meals, diners have the ability to observe the chef at work and learn about the recipes and techniques involved in cooking their meal, giving each dinner a performative and educational aspect.

Meet the Chef
Martha Hubbard
Culinary Director
Chef Martha Hubbard started her culinary journey in 1986 in Newport Rhode Island. She attended the New England Culinary Institute in 1988 and by 1990, she was cooking at Stars in San Francisco and Mustards in Napa Valley. “The travel bug hit” and Chef Hubbard headed to the Pacific, working first at the Manele Bay Hotel in Hawaii, and then traveling the South Pacific and Asia for a year. By 1994 she settled down in Portland for six years as a sous chef at Payle's Place, Cafe Azur and Bima. After visiting Key West in November 2000, Chef Hubbard moved here May 2001 where she worked as the opening sous chef at 915 and later as the Chef of the Upperdeck at Louie's Backyard. In November 2015, Chef Hubbard became the Culinary Curator at Isle Cook Key West, which became Unity Table in 2019. Chef is thrilled to be collaborating with Williams Hall.

Guest Instructor
Abigail Houff
Guest Culinary Instructor
Abigail Houff has been on the island for 16 years, and while her career in the arts has been built on her handmade jewelry company, Gilded Peach Studio, she always had one foot in the kitchen. A part-time job as a line cook in her twenties taught her the basics, but the passion for food and cooking remained just that until, during COVID in Key West, a community kitchen volunteer job turned into a 3 month stint with Americorps. Cooking full-time was a dream, and the experience led Abigail to obtain a certificate from Cornell in plant-based nutrition. Now, she has made it her mission to prove that plant-based food can be satiating and full of flavor. She loves being able to cook at Unity Table, and bring everyone new ways to eat delicious, gourmet, better-for-you food made from plants.
