Ian Maksin: Cello for Peace Tour

Join us for an evening of music at Williams Hall with cellist Ian Maksin in his Cello for Peace Tour. In this concert, Maksin will play original music from his two most recent releases “The Alchemist” (2021) and “Sempre” (2019) as well as other new compositions that have not been recorded yet. He will also sing from his collection of songs around the globe including unique renditions of his favorite covers by James Taylor, Bill Withers and more!

From Balkan rhythms to West African groves, and from Argentine milonga to music of Mongolian shamans, Ian Maksin magically connects and brings together some of the most diverse elements of world music into a unique fusion, using his cello as the unifying force. Using loop pedal and other electronics, he augments the sound of his instrument into a virtual orchestra creating a one-of-a-kind listening experience. Singing in 30 languages from Arabic and Farsi to Polish and Ukrainian, and from French and Italian to Turkish and Mongolian, Maksin takes his listener on a most musical journey around the globe.

A portion of the ticket and merch sales from this tour will be directed to benefit www.forwellbeing.org, a non-profit organization providing mobile medical assistance to civilians in the parts of Ukraine most affected by war.
