Join Instructor Margo Ellis in this 4-week workshop as you learn the basics of free motion and quilt as-you-go assembly. Margo will teach you how to free-motion quilt using a darning, or free-motion foot, and regular sewing machine. You will be making a sampler wall hanging using 10 inch squares. She will provide a sample quilt sandwich for practice. Beginners welcome.
Classes meet 1-4pm on Wednesdays, starting February 7th, February 14th, February 28th, & March 6th. (No class on Wednesday, February 21st.)
Workshop Price: $140
+ Supplies
- Sewing machine with extension table (if you have one)
- Free motion/darning foot
- Basic sewing supplies
- Threads for free-motion quilting (Standard thread not quilting thread. Seam Shoppe has it. White if you are working on dark color or dark color if you are working on white)
- 1 yd plain quilting fabric for top (Scraps are fine as long as they are at least 6 inch squares and plain or tone on tone. Same for back)
- 1 yd for back
- 2 -1⁄2 yd pieces for sashing front and back
- 1⁄2 yd for binding and loops
- Batting (Margo recommends: Quilters dream)
- Marker that will show on your fabric *Not required but very useful: Sewslipp from the Seam Shoppe
Notes:
The Seam Shoppe is the only fabric store in town and their staff is very helpful. Look at the samples in the store of color ideas. They offer a 10% discount to my students.
